Speaking exclusively to TTG, chief operating officer, Emaar Hospitality Group, Chris Newman shares the company’s mammoth pipeline of projects.

TTG: Tell our readers all about the company’s latest developments.

This year has been a busy and exciting time for Emaar Hospitality Group as we have over 35 projects in the pipeline that make a significant contribution to the evolution of the hospitality industry in the UAE and across the region.

We have consolidated our expertise in the management of mixed-use developments and, as a result, have long-term management contracts in place including the recently announced The Address Fujairah Resort + Spa and The Address Jumeirah Resort + Spa.

In May, Rove Downtown Dubai opened; it is the flagship property of our new contemporary mid-scale brand, Rove Hotels. We have already announced an additional six properties and are aiming to have 10 Rove hotels in the city in prime locations by 2020, adding over 2,660 rooms.

We are also getting ready to open a new hotel under our premium luxury brand, The Address Hotels + Resorts. The Address Boulevard Dubai will be the first hotel under the brand in seven years. It will be the second tallest tower in Downtown Dubai next only to the iconic Burj Khalifa.

Across the board, we are expanding our offerings with several new hotels and serviced residences being added under our three hotel brands: The Address Hotels + Resorts, Vida Hotels and Resorts, and Rove Hotels at home and further afield. We also recently announced our first project in Saudi Arabia: Vida Jeddah Gate.

TTG: What message will you be conveying at this year’s WTM?

Our message for this year is simple: Emaar Hospitality Group is a growing international business that seeks to offer the global hospitality market something dynamic and different whilst staying true to our roots as a Dubai-based company that offers lifestyle experiences in three different segments – contemporary mid-scale, upscale boutique and premium luxury.

TTG: What trends have you witnessed during 2016 and how are you responding to them?

The biggest trend is the emergence of the Millennial generation and the youth as significant clientele for our industry. And that is why we have been shaping our hotel brands, especially Vida Hotels and Resorts and Rove Hotels, as social hubs for the new generation of travellers and entrepreneurs.
